Say What?

Story Time. Okay, so today I was talking to a friend of mine who I've had a thing for. Well he's kind of been showing interest and we had left our normal chit-chat and were being a bit more flirty than usual. I thought it was going great, especially when he asked me when I was free. I was so excited until I read the rest of what he texted to me, "Are you a virgin?"

Obviously, this wasn't what I had thought he was thinking of. I told him that I was still a virgin and he said "Well are you sure you want to lose it to me? Haha" WHAT!? I'm definitely confused by now and I told him that I never said I wanted to lose anything. I just wanted to have some fun. Then he told me that if we started doing anything that he wouldn't be able to stop himself. He would just let it happen. I got out of that conversation really quick after that.

Sure, sex is something that I want, but I definitely don't want it with him. Ever. He's one of those boys that's good for a fling, but that's it. I'm still not even sure if he got the message.

Boys are so much fun, but when you start to feel like they're using you or taking advantage of you, recognize that and stand up for yourself. I'm definitely going to make it very clear to this kid that I'm not a toy. I've got too much respect for myself to be something like that. How do you learn to respect yourself? A lot of girls have a hard time with this. When boys surround you on all sides with nothing but sneaky little comments about sex, it wears you down. You start to think that that's all you're worth, but it's not. I promise. You have the potential to be so much more that some boy's plaything. It's a choice you have to make, though. I'm not saying that you need to cut all things sexual out of your life. Trust me, I'm definitely not saying that. I'm saying that you have the right, the dignity, and the opportunity to be selective with boys. You can have any boy you want, but they aren't all good for you. Sure, all girls have that soft spot for the edgy boy who breaks all the rules and makes you feel like you're flying, but they'll break your heart just as quick as they'll break a rule. Have fun with those and do not put your heart into it, because if the heart isn't in it then it can't be broken. Guard your heart.
