I Can Do Anything A Boy Can Do, And I Can Do It Better

"Hey girls, you’re beautiful. Don’t look at those stupid magazines with sticklike models. Eat healthy and exercise. That’s all. Don’t let anyone tell you you’re not good enough. You are good enough, you are too good. Love your family with all your heart and listen to it. You are gorgeous, whether you’re a size 3 or a size 14. It doesn’t matter what you look like on the outside, as long as you’re a good person, as long as you respect others. I know it’s been told hundreds of times before, but it’s true. Hey girls, you are beautiful." - Gerard Way

How often do we get to hear people say such sweet things? For those of you who do not know, Gerard Way is the lead singer of My Chemical Romance. I don't have much to say about him or the band..I just like what he had to say about the subject of us. And who we are. And how we're all trying so hard to fit a mold created by computers. And I understand where that comes from. Everything comes from computers these days. We communicate, we post our lives up for other people to see, music is created by computers now; computers synchronize the world. So if all of these things can come from computers and more, why can't we? Why can't we just be what the computer tells us to be? Because we're not programmed that way. You can't hotwire a person to make them something different. Computers all function from a basic set of programming technology that is being updated constantly. And here's the disconnect for people: humans are not computers. So why is everyone trying to make us into one?

Why are people no longer happy with things the way they are? Is it because now we live in a society where we are constantly demanding more and we're always coming up with new ideas to improve our lives and make everything better? Girls have bought into the lie that we have to be updated every year, we have to change our programming, we have to be something different because what we are is not the exact same fit as somebody else. Somebody saw someone, somewhere and decided to label them as "better" than somebody else. That's where "better" comes from. "Better" is an opinion, not a fact.
Opinions change, facts do not. That's what makes them different. So why are we trying to mold into an opinion, which changes anyway?

Why?
